What will Artificial Intelligence Achieve Next?

Has the time come for Artificial Intelligence (AI) to officially become the master of humanity? Recently, one of the top Go players in the world, Lee Sedol, was resolutely beaten by Google’s AlphaGo, a computer that uses Artificial Intelligence. Out of the five games that were played, the program only lost out on one game. What does this victory mean for the future of Artificial Intelligence?

In a recent article, published in CIO Dive, the author writes about how the computer’s win against Sedol completely changes the game for AI. After all, given the extremely complex nature of the Chinese board game, experts hadn’t pegged on AI beating a human for at least a decade. The same article also quotes Ness SES’s Chief Technology Officer, Moshe Kranc, who notes that this win should be rightly celebrated as a victory for AI. According to Kranc, “Custom hardware enables these calculations to occur in nanoseconds. In effect, the computer can now play Go not just using analysis, but, like humans, can also rely on visual pattern matching. And, the computer has inferred new winning strategies based on exhaustive analysis of past games that man has not yet discovered.”

Kranc also speaks about how he thinks AI will play out in the near future. To read more about his thoughts on AI, click here.
